The EHMA 2022 Annual Conference will host the 20th edition of the Karolinska Medical Management Centre (MMC) & EHMA Research Award promoting high-quality research on health management.
The Award was created to stimulate early career researchers to engage in healthcare management research. Since its establishment in 2002, the award has attracted numerous doctoral researchers who have submitted their thesis for a chance to present during the EHMA Conference and compete for a € 1.000 prize. For many young professionals, the Karolinska MMC & EHMA Research Award represents a terrific launching pad for a career in health management.
Of course, winning the Karolinska Medical Management Centre (MMC) & EHMA Research Award has been a great honour. But most of all it provided me with a platform to showcase my doctoral research to a broad audience of academics and practitioners in the healthcare management field. Even in an online setting due to the pandemic, the EHMA conference was a great place for presenting my work, exchanging ideas, and exploring future research avenues. And for me personally, winning the award really encouraged me to continue my search for critical insights and practical value based on social science research in health and social care. So, I definitely encourage PhD students to also submit their work and discuss it during the EHMA conference.
MSc Ludo Glimmerveen, winner of the Award in 2020
Every year, in conjunction with the Call for Abstracts for the EHMA Conference, a dedicated call is launched for PhD students in the final stages of their doctoral studies or recent PhD graduates. Only a few abstracts are shortlisted and invited to present in a dedicated session at the EHMA Conference. During the Conference, the shortlisted researchers present their study results in front of a wide academic audience from leading universities and research centres in Europe. The best research is presented with the Award during the Conference Closing Plenary.
Winning the Karolinska Medical Management Centre (MMC) & EHMA Research Award last year was a huge honour and surprise for me. As someone who would typically shy away from presenting, I submitted an abstract as I saw the doctoral session as a great opportunity to present my research in a safe environment. The reality of the conference definitely lived up to my expectations with the organisers, chair, and my fellow presenters being warm, friendly and supportive throughout the process. By winning the Karolinska MMC & EHMA Research Award, I was given the opportunity to present my research on the main stage in front of a wide academic audience including representatives from leading European universities and research centers. If you are a doctoral student who would like to disseminate your research to a wide international audience in a supportive environment, I would recommend submitting an abstract to the EHMA 2022 conference.
Dr Lisa Rogers, winner of the Award in 2021
